# New Project
From the Projects page, select 'New Project'.
Enter basic site and location details to create the project.
# Project Name
Give your project a name. This could be the project address, or another name that describes the subdivision. The project name appears on the BESS report.
If/when you create additional versions of a project, each of these can be given a unique 'version name'. Version names do not appear on the BESS report. The 'version name' field becomes available when there is more than one version of a project.
# Council
BESS Subdivisions is available to all Victorian councils during the pilot (beta phase).
# Planning Number
This is the planning application number, if known. If not yet known, this field can be left blank.
# Project Description
This is an optional field.
# Site Area
This is the land area, in square metres. Note that cne hectare equals 10,000 sqm.
# Number of lots
Select from the drop down list. Your selection here determines which standards are applicable to your subdivision.
- Small (3-15)
- Medium (16-59)
- Large (60-249)
- Very Large (250+)
# Includes a public realm?
Answer yes here if the subdivision includes any of the following: streets, laneways and roads (excepting common property), parks, public plazas, waterways and foreshores. Your selection here determines which standards are applicable to your subdivision.
# Street Address, Suburb, State and Postcode
Enter these manually. Unlike BESS Buildings, the subdivisions tool does not use an address lookup connected to Google maps, as for subdivision projects the unique address may not yet exist.
# Have you had a pre-application meeting with Council?
Most councils encourage pre-application meetings where possible, as an opportunity to discuss the opportunities and constraints relevant to the design response.
Once you have completed all required fields, select 'Create Project'.
