# BESS-3 Tool Notes

BESS-3 was retired on 13 October 2024 and is no longer supported.

BESS-3 projects are able to be opened and viewed as read-only projects.

You may make a copy of a BESS-3 project ('Save As' to a new project). Note this will upgrade the project to the latest version of BESS.

The BESS-3 engine was released in June 2016, and was superseded by BESS-4 in August 2019.
