To create compact neighbourhoods that are oriented around easy walking distances to activity centres, schools and community facilities, public open space and public transport.

# Summary
Better practice is awarded where at least 95% of dwellings are within 1km of a school, measured in a straight line (‘as the crow flies’).. In low-density areas, an alternative approach may be accepted if it demonstrates the intent of the standard.
