  • To create compact neighbourhoods that are oriented around easy walking distances to activity centres, schools and community facilities, public open space and public transport.

  • To allow easy movement through and between neighbourhoods for all people.\

# Summary

Better practice is awarded where at least 95% of dwellings are within 1km of a community centre, measured in a straight line (‘as the crow flies’). In low-density areas, an alternative approach may be accepted if it aligns with the intent of the standard.
