# SLL 5.2 - Public Transport Network
Providing a well-integrated public transport network in new subdivisions is a way to support sustainable travel options, reduce car dependency, and ensure comfort and convenience for public transport users.
The Victorian Planning Provisions include the following objectives for the public transport network (at 56.06-6):
- To provide for the safe, efficient operation of public transport and the comfort and convenience of public transport users.
- To integrate subdivision design with the public transport network.
BESS rewards subdivisions that consider the public transport network by:
- Committing to negotiate with Public Transport Victoria to contribute funding for public transport stop(s) within or adjoining the subdivision.
- Implementing minor temporary transport infrastructure activations prior to public transport operation to encourage community shared rides to public transport hubs.
